TDP hails Telangana Congress MPs decision

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has welcomed Telangana Congress MPs’ decision to tour Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

“There are most welcome. They should come first to Nellore district. I appeal to the people of Nellore to extend a rousing reception to Telangana Congress MPs,” Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

Being MPs, the Telangana Congress leaders could tour any place in the state.

“TDP workers will welcome them in Nellore district considering them as our brothers,” Somireddy said, adding that they would not consider political opponents as enemies.

They would welcome even TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao, he added. Rao had planned a visit to Vijayawada some time back and the people there welcomed his trip. However, the TRS chief cancelled the programme, Somireddy recalled.

“People of all the three regions are like brothers and they can move freely in any region to express their opinions.’’ In an indirect reference to the TRS, Somireddy said that it was not fair for some parties to welcome some leaders and hurl eggs and stones on others. On the recent industrial pa r tne r ship summi t , Somireddy said the power policy of the state government and the lending policy of the Reserve Bank were responsible for the slow industrial progress in the state. Power cuts, abnormal increase in power tariff and increase in the interest rate from 8 to 15.5 per cent on loans to industrialists were responsible for the slow industrial progress, he said.
