About TELANGANA

Telangana region is part of Andhra Pradesh state in southern India. It constitutes Hyderabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, RangaReddy and Warangal districts. Telangana region is one of the least developed regions in India. Rampant poverty, illiteracy, malnourished children, child labor, farmer suicides, unemployment, water scarcity and electricity shortage are some of the problems of this region. There are millions of people who are not fortunate enough to send their children to schools or feed their children three time a day, or provide safe drinking water to their families in this area.

T-JAC to keep T-embers alive

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC), which met here on Friday, felt that it would not be possible to revive and intensify the movement for the separate state given the changed circumstances. However, it will organize small-scale protests to kept the T-fire alive till the 2014 elections.

The meeting was held on Friday in the backdrop of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu's Poru Bata, YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy's 48-hour fast in support of farmers in Armoor followed by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's Medak tour to launch many developmental schemes. Leaders who took part in the meeting included TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and TJAC chairman M Kodandaram Reddy.

The message that the TJAC leaders received from the various districts and several leaders of associations of government employees was that employees, workers, lawyers, students, and teachers are not in a mood to take part in a militant movement. Even KCR, who is known to make sensational announcements in such meetings, remained subdued all through the meeting.

In a marked departure from the previous movement, which rejected day-to-day issues in favour of Telangana state, the TJAC, from now onwards will take up issues like the power crisis, price-rise and farmers' plight along with the issues of handloom weavers.

Apart from KCR and Kodandaram, the two-hour meeting was attended by BJP senior leaders Bandaru Dattatreya, New Democrary leaders Suryam.

T-JAC leaders V Srinivas Goud, K Swamy Goud, K Devi Prasad and C Vittal along with the leaders of JACs from across the region.

In a significant decision, the leaders decided to exempt the teaching and student community from any future agitations till the academic year ended. The meeting also felt that it would not be fair to ask state government, RTC and Singareni colleries employees to participate again in the movement. Since no other organization is available to carry forward the movement, the meeting decided to work to strengthen the district branches of the political JAC.

"The meeting is trying to formulate an action plan on Saturday to demonstrate that the movement would be revived again," sources told TOI. According to sources, small-scale protests would be organized here and there to keep alive the T-fire. On record, JAC convener M Kodandaram said the leaders would meet again on Saturday to finalize the action plan for JACs in the district.

He said the meeting adopted two resolutions - lifting of all cases against students and employees and scrapping of teacher eligibility test.

Delay in Telangana formation, Gadkari accuses government of inefficiency

Slamming the Central Government’s inefficiency to form a separate Telangana state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari has promised the people of Andhra Pradesh that if his party came in power it would bring a bill in the Parliament to carve out a separate state.

Addressing a public meeting organised at Maktal in Mahabubnagar district on the occasion of flagging off a rally in support of the separate Telangana organised by Andhra Pradesh state unit chief G Kishan Reddy, Gadkari said: “I promise you that after our party comes in power, we will present a bill in the Parliament demanding autonomous status and independence to Telangana state and we will surely form an independent Telangana.”

Gadkari further said that the country would take a sigh of relief from corruption and scams, when Congress would be defeated in the coming assembly elections.

“Home Minister Chidambaram had announced about the formation of independent Telangana state but the Congress party, its chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have cheated the people of Telangana,” he added.

He also further promised if BJP is voted in power, the party would work towards utilizing the water of Krishna river to give relief to the drought struck Telangana district.

“If water comes in Krishna river and six are constructed on the Godavari river, then around one crore acre of land in the drought hit Telangana district will get a new life,” added Gadkari.

Pro-Telangana activists have stepped up their efforts for the four-decade-old demand of a separate state, which is sought to be carved out of the economically less developed parts of Andhra Pradesh.

The struggle gathered momentum last year after the UPA government accepted their demand in principle.

Several protests and shutdowns had brought Andhra Pradesh to a near halt in 2009 and 2010, as pro-Telangana activists persisted with their demand.

Telangana: TJAC to revive stir, spare students

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Joint Action Committee will spare students from the agitation which it wants to revive, keeping in mind the examinations.

The TJAC, which met here under the chairmanship of M Kodandaram on Friday, could not finalise any action plan and will meet again on Saturday.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and BJP leader B Dattatreya were among those who attended the meeting which discussed mainly TJAC's district committee reports.

Speaking to reporters later, Kodandaram accused the government of harassing students by not withdrawing a single police case registered during the movement since 2009.

The need to lift all cases was urgent in view of the APPSC examinations for recruitment for government jobs, he said.

The TJAC chairman also demanded cancellation of the Teachers Eligibility Test(TET) and to fill up all the vacancies in government schools only through the District Selection Committee (DSC).

VRO - More marks in less time

Yes, the reasoning section in VRO exam has been assigned for 10marks. This section will help to gain more marks in less time.
Logical thinking and problem sloving……… These two help in getting the output for the question. Coding/decoding, relationship, comparisons, oddman out, calendar, non-verbal reasoning are some the concepts of this section.
Coding, decoding has different types of questions. We can obtain the solution by logic
Ex: If ‘HAIR’ is written as ‘IBJS’ in a code language then the code for ‘PAPER’ is________
ANS: HAIR-IBJS
After ‘H’ we get ‘I’
After ‘A’we get ‘B’
Similarly the letters are replaced by its next letter.
Then for PAPER we can write as QBQFS.

Currency notes being used to spread Telangana sentiment

Agitation for carving out a separate State of Telangana might not be vocal at this point of time and the leaders lying low, but they have found a new channel of spreading the demand by marking currency notes with ‘Jai Telangana' both in Telugu and English.

Writing in the white space – watermark window – is punishable under Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act 1949. But, the people supporting the demand seem to be not bothered about the punishment and were using currency notes as permanent pamphlets.

A few such currency notes have made way into the system in Coastal Andhra too and a Rs.20 note was passed on by a vendor in Vijayawada recently. A Reserve Bank of India directive as part of its Clean Notes policy had said that: Banks shall do away with stapling of fresh, re-issuable, non-issuable note packets and instead secure them with paper bands; banks shall sort notes into issuables and non-issuables and issue only clean notes to public.

Banks are supposed to tender soiled notes in unstapled condition to Reserve Bank of India in inward remittances through currency chests as per the directive, but many banks do not accept soiled notes.

Banks have been asked to forthwith stop writing of any kind on watermark window of bank notes.

People are scared to accept such notes now as they fear these notes may not be exchanged at the banks and they could be branded pro-Telangana in Andhra region.

Telangana Movement

Telangana MovementTelangana movement relates to the political activities which were triggered to create separate state for telangana people.

Telangana movement started in the early years after formation of Andhra Pradesh state since Telangana people were not satisfied with the agreement terms and the assurance they were provided by Andhra leaders. Students of Osmania University in Hyderabad have continued the protests which were left incomplete in the year 1969 which later on was spread to the other Telangana political leaders of the assembly. The most important role in this Telangana movement was played by KCR, who is also the founder of TRS political party when he demanded the Government to give final decision about the separation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

KCR has added fuel to the Telangana movement by starting hunger strike which was forcibly disturbed by the prevailing Government with concern to his health conditions; however this action of Government could not deter the students from their determination. Telangana movement has seen many protest and demonstrations where dummies of Government and their leaders were burnt due to which Government had to bring paramilitary forces to control the students.

As a part of this Telangana movement, Gun Park was built near Public Gardens of Hyderabad in memoir of all the students who have lost their lives for this cause in the year 1969. After the act of KCR Government has given a positive sign of looking into the cause of Telangana movement, there were also other political parties which have given acceptance to support the formation of Telangana and also other who did not like the concept of dividing Andhra Pradesh.

Accordingly Government has formed a Joint Action Committee which consisted of prominent members from various political parties, who together will give out a report on the consequences of dividing or not dividing the state depending on which the Government will decide.

‘TDP using T martyrs’ kin to defame KCR’

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Thursday lashed out at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and leaders of Telangana Telugu Desam Forum for 'luring' the families of martyrs with monetary benefits to make damaging statements against the movement.

Party MLA Koppula Eashwar said it was a matter of shame that the leader of the opposition and his partymen had stooped to such depths that they were arm-twisting the poor families of hundreds of martyrs to spread canards about the struggle for a separate Telangana state and TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao.

Reiterating that the party viewed both YSR Congress leader Jagan and Naidu as enemies of the Telangana movement, the TRS leader denied reports of match-fixing between Jaganmohan's party and TRS. "It is strange that whenever KCR speaks or remains silent, a section of the media portrays it as match-fixing," he said.

BJP to go on Telangana yatra now

The BJP will launch a 22-day “yatra” to demand Telangana statehood on Thursday. The yatra, to be flagged off by BJP president Nitin Gadkari, will start from the banks of Krishna river in Mahbubnagar district and end on the banks of Godavari on February 9.

The 3,500 km yatra will touch 986 villages in 88 Assembly constituencies across Telangana, excluding Hyderabad. The “Telangana Poru Yatra” (Struggle for Telangana) has been organised by the BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit and will be led by state unit chief G Kishan Reddy.

“We want to highlight the Telangana issue and pressurise the UPA government to move a Bill in the forthcoming budget session of Parliament for carving out a Telangana state,’’ state BJP general secretary N Ramachander Rao said.

Roa said Gadkari will come from Hyderabad in a helicopter and launch the yatra at Krishna village. The yatra will conclude at Bhadrachalam, Rao added.

TDP hails Telangana Congress MPs decision

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has welcomed Telangana Congress MPs’ decision to tour Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

“There are most welcome. They should come first to Nellore district. I appeal to the people of Nellore to extend a rousing reception to Telangana Congress MPs,” Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

Being MPs, the Telangana Congress leaders could tour any place in the state.

“TDP workers will welcome them in Nellore district considering them as our brothers,” Somireddy said, adding that they would not consider political opponents as enemies.

They would welcome even TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao, he added. Rao had planned a visit to Vijayawada some time back and the people there welcomed his trip. However, the TRS chief cancelled the programme, Somireddy recalled.

“People of all the three regions are like brothers and they can move freely in any region to express their opinions.’’ In an indirect reference to the TRS, Somireddy said that it was not fair for some parties to welcome some leaders and hurl eggs and stones on others. On the recent industrial pa r tne r ship summi t , Somireddy said the power policy of the state government and the lending policy of the Reserve Bank were responsible for the slow industrial progress in the state. Power cuts, abnormal increase in power tariff and increase in the interest rate from 8 to 15.5 per cent on loans to industrialists were responsible for the slow industrial progress, he said.

Telangana got a raw deal: Ponnala

HYDERABAD: Major industries minister J Geeta Reddy and information technology minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, both from Telangana, have differing perceptions over the likely flow of investments into the region. The two minister at first, at a press conference here on Monday, dismissed as baseless the contention of some Telangana protagonists that the region was neglected in the matter of new industries.

They even reeled out statistics in support of their argument.

But towards the end of the conference, Lakshmaiah, differed with Geeta and said he agreed with the contention of G Vivek (MP) who had said that the CII Partnership Summit went on more like an Andhra summit.

Denying that Telangana was meted out a raw deal at the summit as far as new investment proposals were concerned, they said that as many as 41 new projects, including a few mega units, were set to be launched in the region.

The projects include gas-based power plants, automobiles, IT and other sectors, and will come up in Karimnagar, Rangareddy, Khammam, Medak, Nalgonda, Adilabad and Mahboobnagar districts.

The investments will be of the order of Rs 1 lakh crore which comes to around 16 percent of the entire investments.

“Not lagging behind are public sector undertakings (PSUs) such as BDL, BEL, ECIL and Midhani which have announced expansion programmes by having new units in various districts in Telangana,’’ Geeta Reddy said.

Besides, pending projects such as the Shankarpally gas-based power plant, expansion of the Kothagudem thermal power plant, Elgin gas-based power project in Karimnagar will start soon.

Asserting that no injustice was done to the Telangana region, she explained that investors would always decide on the region and place keeping in mind availability of raw material and manpower, and other factors. The Andhra region got advantage this time because three investors came forward to establish petroleum refineries with investments of about Rs 1 lakh crore, she explained.

Geeta Reddy admitted that investors had not shown interest in the automobile sector as most of the automobile companies were going to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka which had the required infrastructure and well-established ancillary unit network.

In the case of Andhra Pradesh, the state has just made a beginning with Mahindra Tractors coming forward to establish an automobile unit at Zaheerabad in Medak district.

The state government gave VAT exemption to the unit.

Referring to the announcement made by Union minister for commerce and industries Anand Sharma on a National Industrial and Manufacturing Zone in the south encompassing Andhra Pradesh, Geeta Reddy said the state government started the process of identifying 25,000 hectares of land for the prestigious project.

Telangana History and Facts

Telangana region has been ruled by many great dynasties like Sathavahanas, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Mughals, Qutubshahis, asafjahis. Of which the Kakathiyas impressions on architecture are found more in these days too. Sathavahanas ruled over the Telangana for about 400 years from the 2nd century B.C. to beyond the 2nd century A.D. Sathavahanas were also called Salivahanas and Satakarnis. In the 3rd century B.C., Simukha, the founder of the Sathavahana dynasty, unified the various Andhra principalities into one kingdom and became its ruler (271 B.C. -- 248 B.C.).Satakarni II, the sixth ruler of the dynasty (184 B.C.) was an able ruler who extended his kingdom to the west. He ruled for a period of 56 years. Pulumavi I has brought renewed strength and glory to their kingdom. The only silver lining in this dynasty was the excellent literary work, Gathasaptasati, of Hala, the 17th Satavahana king. Dharmapuri in Karimnagar was the capital city for many years.

Among Kakathiyas , Prataparudra, grandson of Rudramamba was great ruler who succeeded his grandmother in A.D.1295 and ruled till A.D.1323. He pushed the western border of his kingdom up to Raichur. He introduced many administrative reforms. He divided the kingdom into 75 Nayakships, which was later adopted and developed by the Vijayanagara Rayas.

During the reign of Bahamani sultan Mohd Shah III, one sultan Quli Qutub, who was born at Hamadan in Persia, came to Deccan and started his career as a bodyguard of Mohd Shah. With his ability and courage he rose from one position to another till he became the Governor of Telangana, the eastern province of Bahmani kingdom.

When the Bahamani sultanate became weak, Quli Qutub became independent and formed his Qutubshahi Dynasty in 1518. From then, he devoted most of his energies in extending his frontiers of his kingdom. He took possession of part of Berar in the north, Rajkonda, Deverkonda, Gahanpura, Kovilakonda and Panagal thus brought much of Telugu speaking areas in to his possession. He defeated Sitapati of Bhogikala, and captured Bellamkonda, Indrakonda, Khammam, Warangal etc. in 1543 Jamsheed assassinated Quli Qutub.

The Golkonda fort was built by Quliqutub. His son Jamsheed became the King who was succeeded by his brother Ibrahim in 1550 .During his reign, trade and commerce flourished enormously. Telangana, like Egypt, became the Mart of the whole world. Merchants from Turkistan, Arabia and Persia used to frequent Telangana and found their trade attractive and prosperous. In his reign two tanks namely Ibrahim Pantam tank and Hussainsagar were built. He also built a bridge on river Musi, which is known as Puranapul. The Hindus of Telangana remember him for his patronage of Telugu literature. Many Telugu poets like Addanki Gangadher Kavi, Panuganti Telanganarya, Kandukuri Rudra Kavi flourished in his court. He gained goodwill among his Hindu subjects. He died in 1580, and was succeeded by his son Quli Qutub Shah.

Qutubshah shifted his capital from Golkonda to Hyderabad on the river Musi. He built the Jamia mosque at Charminar. He died in 1611. He was succeeded by his nephew Mohd. Qutubshah as he had no sons. Mohd Qutub Shah joined the confederation of Deccani powers against Moughals to stop their advance towards Deccan/South. He was a scholar and composed gazals, tarki, bunds and rubaya. He died in 1662, and was succeeded by his son-in-law Sayyed Ahmed in 1667.

At this time the Moughals annexed Ahmednagar and marched towards Golkonda. Sayyed Ahmed signed the treaty, and accepted the suzerainity of Moughal emporer Shah Jahan and agreed to pay 8 lakhs of rupees as tribute to Moughlals.

With the connivance of mirjumla the Mughal Emperor Aurgangzeb sent his son Mohd. Sultan in 1656, who besiezed Golkonda and occupied Hyderabad. However on intervention of Darashekou and Jahanara from Delhi, Aurangazeb was compelled to raise the seize on payment of one crore and to surrender Chinnoor. Later Mohd Sultan married the second daughter of Abdullah. Abdullah died in 1672 and his son-in-law Abul Hassan succeeded him. He appointed Madanna as his Prime Minister and his brother Akkanna as commander in chief. In 1687 Auragazeb again attacked Golkonda which successfully resisted -his advance. But due to treachery of Sardar Khan a high officer in the Army who opened the gate of Golkonda fort, captured the fort in 1687 and Abul Hassan was made captive. They looted the city in every street and market place where lakhs worth in cash, property, chinaware and costly carpets of aristocracy was available.

The State of Hyderabad was founded by Mir Qamruddin Chin Qilich Khan. He was the son of Aurangzeb's general . Ghazi-ud-din Khan Feroz Jang, who traced his ancestry to Abu Bakr, the first Khalifa. In 1713, six years after Aurangzeb's death, emperor Farrukhsiyar made Mir Qamruddin Viceroy of the Deccan, with the title of Nizam-ul-Mulk Feroz Jang. Later, emperor Muhammad Shah conferred on him the title of Asaf Jah, by which title the dynasty is still known. By 1724, Mir Qamruddin had made himself virtually independent of Delhi, although he and his successors continued to profess a nominal allegiance to the Moghul emperor right up to 1858, when the British Crown assumed the governance of India.

In 1799 the Nizam aided the East India Company in the war with Tippu Sultan and after the latter's defeat and death, the British gave a part of his territories to the Nizam.

The death of Nizam All Khan and the succession of his eldest surviving son, Sikander Jah, occured on 7 August 1803.

Sikander Jah died on 21 May 1829, and was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, nasir-ud-Daula. By the Treaty of 1853, the province of Berar, along with certain districits in the Raichur Doab and on the wertern frontier of Hyderabad, were assigned for this purpose, their administration being taken over by British officers under the control of the Resident at Hyderabad.

By the Treaty of 1860, except for Berar, all the other districts assigned in 1853 were restored.

Mir Mahbub Ali Khan was a minor when he succeeded his father afzal-ud-Daula on 26 February 1869.

The Hyderabad contingent with the exception of the artillery which was disbanded, was delocalized and incorporated in the Indian Army, with provision for the protection of the Nizam's dominion.

Nizam Mir Usman Ali Khan Bahadur is the seventh in the line. He succeeded to the gaddi on 29 August 1911. In 1918 the title of "is Exalted Highness" was conferred on him as a hereditary distinction. Shortly thereafter, by an autograph letter from the King, he was granted the title of 'Faithful Ally of the British Government.'

Geographically, Hyderabad occupies a pivotal position in the heart of the country. In population, revenue and importance it was the premier State in the country. The population was nearly sixteen million and the annual revenue Rs. 26 crores. Its area was over 82,000 square miles. Hyderabad had its own coinage, paper currency and stamps. Hyderabad was treated by the British no differently from other Indian States. The right of intervention in internal affairs was repeatedly asserted and exercised.

In 1885 Reading, then Viceroy, ascertained that the sovereignty of the British Crown was supreme in India. The Viceroy pointed out that it was the right of the British Government to intervene in the internal affairs of Indian States, and that the Nizam did not stand in a category separate from that of rulers of the other Indian states.

In March 1946 the cabinet mission advised the princely states regarding the future of their merger after the formation of independent India, and separate Pakistan for Indian Muslims. This was further clarified in May 1946 referring to the lapse of paramountency and formation of federation. The congress opposed the Independent states outside the Federal Union, but the Muslim league was encouraging the states to remain Independent. Nizam of Hyderabad was under the influence of a fanatical body called Ittehadul Musulmin under Kasim Razvi, declared his intention to remain as independent state.

Soon after the announcement of His Majesty's Government's plan of 3 June 1947, the Nizam issued a firman declaring his intention not to send representatives to the Constituent Assembly of either Pakistan or India, and making it clear that on 15 August he would be entitled to resume the status of an independent sovereign. It had been his ambition to secure Dominion Status for his State, on the withdrawal of the British and treatment then henceforth as a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations. When he saw that clause 7 of the Indian Independence Bill did not permit that grant of Dominion Status to an Indian State. The Nizam sent a delegation to Delhi on 11 July headed by the Nawab of Chhatari, President of the Executive Council, to meet Lord Mountbatten.

Meanwhile Laik Ali was pressing that the Hyderabad issue should be taken to the United Nations Organization. On 17 August, he wrote to Nehru that Hyderabad had decided to solicit the good offices of the United Nations Organization in order that the dispute between Hyderabad and India might be resolved and a peaceful and enduring settlement arrived at.

The Indian Government did not agree that Hyderabad had any right in international law to seek the intervention of the United Nations Organization or any other outside body for the settlement of the issue. And that as the Government of India regarded the Indo-Hyderabad dispute as a purely domestic one, they did not recognize the Nizam's claim to invoke the good offices of the United Nations in that connation.
