Telangana movement relates to the political activities which were triggered to create separate state for telangana people.
Telangana movement started in the early years after formation of Andhra Pradesh state since Telangana people were not satisfied with the agreement terms and the assurance they were provided by Andhra leaders. Students of Osmania University in Hyderabad have continued the protests which were left incomplete in the year 1969 which later on was spread to the other Telangana political leaders of the assembly. The most important role in this Telangana movement was played by KCR, who is also the founder of TRS political party when he demanded the Government to give final decision about the separation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.
KCR has added fuel to the Telangana movement by starting hunger strike which was forcibly disturbed by the prevailing Government with concern to his health conditions; however this action of Government could not deter the students from their determination. Telangana movement has seen many protest and demonstrations where dummies of Government and their leaders were burnt due to which Government had to bring paramilitary forces to control the students.
As a part of this Telangana movement, Gun Park was built near Public Gardens of Hyderabad in memoir of all the students who have lost their lives for this cause in the year 1969. After the act of KCR Government has given a positive sign of looking into the cause of Telangana movement, there were also other political parties which have given acceptance to support the formation of Telangana and also other who did not like the concept of dividing Andhra Pradesh.
Accordingly Government has formed a Joint Action Committee which consisted of prominent members from various political parties, who together will give out a report on the consequences of dividing or not dividing the state depending on which the Government will decide.
